Encounter with Subaru Drivers

  1. Subaru driver fails to check blind spot and was inches from hitting me if I didn't repeatedly honk my horn. (I had decided to pass this car because it was going too slow and was in the process of doing so. I even signaled.)
  2. Subaru driver hogs left lane and travels well below the de facto speed limit, holding up a long line of traffic behind it.
  3. Subaru driver directly in front of me approaches a delayed red light, hits the brakes, but still coasts its way through the intersection. There was no one in front of her.
  4. Subaru driver a few cars back begins to speed, then swerve between lanes, and then tailgates me. Traffic was already moving 65-70 mph on a 55 mph road.
Fucking hell...

Driving in Brooklyn

There be some crazy drivers in this city.

Licensed to Drive

I passed without flying colors. With no colors at all, in fact. None except the golden exterior of my $50-per-hour instructor's 2008 Honda Accord.

I committed a few minor mistakes I had never done before in the 8 hours of significant driving practice (only!). One of them, stupidly enough, was signaling. The other, I care not to mention. But all is well now.

I just can't wait to go home.

Driving Tomorrow

My road test is tomorrow. I am not nervous, but I am not absolutely confident either. I handle regular driving around very well. The only thing I am a little worried about is the parallel parking and my lack of driving experience (even though I do quite well).

We'll see. And wish me luck.

DMV Road Test. Status: Scheduled.

I decided to continue my driving lesson from when I started back in January. I gave up then because the Spring Semester was starting up and it became busy really fast. I decided against taking additional lessons and the road test then.

Yesterday, I went back for a hour's worth of driving. I was surprised that I did well. The instructor said I was ready about 15 minutes in. After that, we were chatting and just driving all over. A kind of waste of time and gas, but it was fun.

Scheduled for road test, set for Thursday, August 7. (Hmm, that's a day before the Beijing Olympics begins. Maybe it's good luck.)
